Play Therapy is a powerful tool for addressing cognitive, behavioral and emotional challenges. Play is our first language and just as adults use words to communicate, children use play to express thoughts and feelings that might otherwise remain hidden. Our therapists are trained in a variety of play therapy techniques that can help children process their experiences and develop more effective strategies for managing their worlds.

Socialization Skills
Socialization skills are critical to making friends, succeeding in school and later in life, getting and keeping a job. Children who struggle in this area often have trouble with self-regulation and understanding the cues others give off when communicating. Using modeling, role-play, learning games, and other tool-building approaches can help children become more confident and comfortable in social situations.
Learning Disabilities
Our counselors can help children with a known learning disability such as dyslexia, develop strategies and coping skills that will help them prosper academically, socially and emotionally. We also offer psycho-educational evaluation when a learning disability is suspected.
DEPRESSION OR ANXIETY
All children experience anxiety at times but sometimes anxiety will keep a child from participating in normal activities because of fear or nervousness. We can help children work through anxiety or depression resulting from trauma, behavior disorders, change, and other contributing factors.
Body Image
Sometimes self-esteem issues mask other unhealthy perceptions an adolescent may have such as a negative body image. Therapists work with teens to assess and treat underlying causes and concerns. Many of our counselors work with teens managing eating disorders.
ADD & ADHD Assessment
The Center has developed a comprehensive program for the assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and support of individuals who face the challenges of ADHD. Because there is no single test that can be used to diagnose this condition, a comprehensive, systematic evaluation is essential. We use several kinds of assessments to determine a diagnosis of ADHD. These include a clinical interview, behavior rating scales, visual and auditory attention tests, and psycho-educational testing.
Decision-Making
All children make wrong choices occasionally but sometimes poor decision-making is a sign of other struggles. Therapists work with children and teens to develop decision-making skills and treatment of the underlying issues.
DIVORCE CARE
Children and teens will often benefit from the assistance of a therapist during the transitions and changes that come with divorce. Our therapists also work with the family in a group setting when that is requested or is deemed beneficial.
Clinical Services for Adolescents
Adolescence is often a challenging time for teens. This is especially true during the transitions from childhood or to adulthood. We strive to create a safe environment for adolescents to process their experiences and learn effective strategies to better navigate their worlds. Our therapists are trained in a variety of evidence-based practices that meet teens where they are both developmentally and emotionally. We provide therapy for a wide variety of adolescent mental health concerns:
- Academic concerns
- ADHD

Couples & Families
Couples
There are many influences that can affect your relationship as a couple – family of origin, work, children, parents, cultural influences, addictions, health, etc. Whether you are married, about to be married, or in a significant relationship, a skilled therapist can help you nurture your relationship and enhance your satisfaction. In addition to counseling, we offer marriage preparation individually tailored to a couple’s needs.
Families
Family therapy promotes healthy relationships within the dynamic of a family. Counselors help family members improve communication, work through grief, crisis, or a specific concern, and resolve conflict. We offer counseling support for parenting, blended families, co-dependency, divorce care, sibling interaction, infertility, grief, and care-giving in addition to educational workshops and therapy groups.
