Derrick Smith, MAPCC
Pastoral CounselorA little about me. . .
I desire to create a safe, collaborative space for my clients to tell their story while exploring new perspectives and behaviors. I am interested in the whole person, focusing on the connection between the physical, mental, and spiritual self. As a trained mediator, I aim to help clients find validation, healing, and growth with life struggles and transitions.
I provide empathetic support for those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, interpersonal conflict, and professional challenges. One of my passions as a therapist is to reach the underserved, especially men of color, and other members of marginalized groups. I enjoy helping couples and families navigate challenges in communication, conflict, and reconciliation, and I connect easily with adolescents and adults.
My transition to work as a therapist includes many years of professional experience in sales management and consulting. I completed a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology while also being trained in mediation, which provides me rich perspective for those facing professional challenges and dilemmas. I will be working under the supervision of Dr. Nancy Cochran.
