Susan Crickmore WilliamsLicensed Professional Counselor
A little about me. . .
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside the children, adolescents and adults whom I counsel. My passion is providing a safe, supportive space where clients can heal and grow.
Throughout my career I’ve worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, self-worth, PTSD, grief, relationships, and major life transitions. Even though life can sometimes feel dark, painful or overwhelming, I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and the hope that change is possible.
I have a special interest in working with children and adolescents. One of my favorite tools to use with my younger clients is play therapy, which can help them process their painful emotions using the language of play. I am currently working to become a registered play therapist with the Association for Play Therapy.
I also enjoy supporting teens through the challenges of school, difficult family situations, and exploring their identities and futures.
I hold a masters in counseling from Lewis University as well as a bachelors in anthropology from Wheaton College. I was raised by missionary parents in multicultural environments and I have a special understanding of the challenges of Third Culture Kids and Adult Third Culture Kids who are working through cultural transitions, identity issues, and loss.
I am not currently taking any new clients, as I will be on maternity leave from mid April through August.
“I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and the hope that change is possible.”
I am a provider for BCBSIL/PPO plans, Aetna, Cigna, and I work with most other insurance plans out of network.
